Karachi Fashion Week 2011 : The 3rd Karachi fashion week 2011 (Spring/Summer 2012 )started on 6 October at an hotel in Karachi,As expected it turned out better as compared to the previous year.Karachi Fashion Week 2011 will continue till 9th October,We will upload pictures of all 4 days of fashion week.
32 designers and 70 models from 15 countries participate in Karachi Fashion Week.
This year, KFW while entering its 3rd year aims toshowcase leading Pakistani fashion retail brands as well as prêt designers to an audience comprising of both international and local buyers and media. Furthermore, six highly recognizable international fashion retail brands will also participate and showcase their latest collection at KFW, seeking to forge local partnerships and franchise outlets in Pakistan.
Delegates from the WFO will be actively involved in the execution and production of KFW; and their subsidiary World Fashion Television (WFT) will produce and compile video profiles of all the participating fashion brands and designers to be aired on the WFT network. Participating KFW designers and brands will also be introduced to key players from the world’s leading Fashion Weeks.
Besides these, the delegation of World Fashion Organisation; Hatem Salem, the organiser of Cairo Fashion Week among others will also be those attending KFW 2011, according to the organisers.
International fashion designers participating in the event include Sharifah Kirana from Malaysia who enjoys a long-standing affiliation with both KFW and IFW 2011, Bayo Adegbe from Nigeria and Kobenan Kouame from South Africa.
Of the international female models, Damilola from Nigeria and Ngozi from Nigeria will be seen walking the ramp.
According to the official communication, the local designers who have so far confirmed their participation at KFW 2011 include (women’s wear) YBQ for Lawrencepur, Usman Dittu, Nadya Mistry, Samar Mehdi, Trevor Castelino, BNS Couture by Bina Khan, Nayna Online by Saman Arif, Rizwanullah and newcomers Nina Ajmal, Wasim Noor and Amir Baig.
In the menswear category, Munib Nawaz, Jazib Qamar, newcomers Arsalan & Yahseer and MAK by Mateen A. Khan will be seen putting their collections on the ramp.
Local brands such as Fifth Avenue, Element Jeans, Bonanza and international brands Guess, Bien Habille and Zara will also show while fashion schools such as Newport, Iqra University (Islamabad) and Indus Institute of Education will participate in the four-day event.
The KFW 2011 platform boasts of Creative Consultant Tariq Amin, choreographer Imran Kureishi, hair and make-up artistes Aliya Tipu (Allenora Salon), Humaa Taher (Humaa & Zara Salon), Mona Jamal (Mona J. Salon) and Rizwana Khan (Zara’s Salon).
A total of 24 new male and an equal number of new female models were handpicked by the jury at the KFW Model Search that took place at Park Towers in Karachi in August 2011 for the event. They, alongside 15 established models including Nadia Hussain, Tooba Siddiqui, Sunita Marshal, Rabia Butt, Ayyan, Maha, Hira Tareen, Zeba Ali, Fia, Fayezah Ansari, Saima Haroon and Saima Azhar will walk the ramp. Four more girls from Islamabad Fashion Week and Lahore will also participate. Here is first tow days pictures collection.
